The Chatham Sound

Big water, big fish, no crowds.

Prince Rupert sits on some of the best fishing on the whole North Coast. From the harbour it’s minutes to the Chatham Sound — sheltered, fish-rich water framed by forested islands and fog banks that burn off into glass-calm mornings.

Whether you’ve never fished before or you plan your whole trip around it, Pacific Blue keeps it simple: step aboard, lines down, and let the water do the rest. We’ll catch some great fish, see some beautiful sights, and make some memories.

Salmon

Year-round

Salmon is the mainstay at Pacific Blue — and unlike most of the coast, the fishing here runs year-round. Whether it’s your first time holding a rod or your fiftieth season, Al will put you on fish and show you the water.

Halibut

In season

When halibut season opens, the gear goes deep. Flat fish, heavy pulls, and some of the best eating the North Coast has to offer — ask about timing when you call to book.

Dungeness Crab

On every trip

While you fish, the crab pots soak. Al drops them on the way out, pulls them on the way in — and if the Sound cooperates, you head home with delicious Dungeness crab on top of your catch.

Boat & skipper

A proper North Coast setup.

Charters run aboard a KingFisher 2025 Falcon — a welded-aluminum boat built in BC for exactly this kind of water. Solid, seaworthy and quick to the grounds.

Your skipper is Al, the owner and operator, with years of experience fishing and crabbing these waters. When you book with Pacific Blue, you fish with Al — not a rotating crew. Rest assured you’ll be in good hands out there.
